Good detailed analysis. Difficult to know what to do about it. The Kessler effect and cutting submarine cables both feature in Konsk as parts of the cascade of challenges that may well overwhelm us.

Thanks. Konsk showing the way as usual!

Sex is just for reproduction and when that's accomplished it's best to replace it with a healthy outdoor activity; IMO. ;-)

The algorithms give me vidéos of people doing stupid things with chainsaws and trees, some short interesting documentaries about how people did stuff in olden times and some clever Chinese and Japanese people making trad stuff just using trad tools. I'd miss all of that.

The silly things with chainsaws and trees can offer some illumination on the "predator grip" as Lyn refers to it- basically, the inability to let go of something. The best examples are when someone has cut part way through a heavy branch, tied a rope to it and thrown the end up over a branch higher up the tree. Working from the ground, they then pull on the loose end to try and break the last bit of the cut. When they succeed and the branch snaps off and falls, they usually find themselves being hauled up into the tree and swing there helplessly because they can't let go- the predator grip... You have to be trained out of the predator grip to work successfully with horses.

On a different tack, when we moved up to our place in 1992, we considered ourselves to be TV addicts and brought a portable set with us to try but it was two weeks before I remembered about it! Fortunately we couldn't get a signal and I've never missed it since. I think the general failure of the internet would be much the same- there are more interesting things to do. Personally, can't wait...

Predator grip sounds frightening!

Most bars around have TVs in them, the newish ultra high definition is frankly IMO absolutely horrible. On top of that the screens are huge. I was un-surprised to notice that TV adverts are still the same, decades pass and a detergent advert today is just a hi-def version of a 20th century one.

Suppose it’s meant to, to prey animals certainly!

Although I’m not a regular, several local pubs have had their social aspect killed by multiple, huge screens blaring away- complete conversation stoppers. The human eye is attracted to light and movement- takes a conscious effort not to watch if there’s one on in a room.

Hadn’t finished! I was going to add, a healthy sex life means no desire

for porn but I do like the occasional laugh at funny animal pictures.
