Create a community buying group (CBG) and start buying wholesale and in quantity. This way you will reduce your expenses and have access to more local, better quality food. Such a buying group can get on with other things too,

for example:

• creating mutual aid links with local producers.

• helping non-organic producers to become organic. For example, the CBG undertakes to purchase non-organic but “in transition” products.

• help people who want to become producers to set up.

My thinking on this. Our two counties here in NW Wa., about 350,000 people. A global event seems to be unfolding that may reveal as grain crop faliures and famine. We will understand this path better by summer. I am not sure how 'organic' fits into this scenario. Short term threats, i am trying to find way to approach government and to discuss how we would deal with such a catastrophe. Coming out of such an event survivors would see more local grain production. Thanks for your response. This issue threats to global supply chain that will happen eventually hopefully trigger good things coming out of it.. I see a very painful awakening event first.

Long distance supply chains have made counties and countries very vulnerable. This is being kicked back and called relocalisation, another little thought out knee jerk reaction to the blindingly obvious. It could be that we may see more local grain production but any form of local needs agriculture must, in the main, be agroforestry. IMO.
